Silvercrown Mountain Outdoor School (SMOS) is a nonprofit corporation that has the specific purpose to establish and maintain an outdoor education school that will serve the general public and foster the theory and practice of utilizing the natural world for environmental education and individual fitness.
The corporation will operate through the ideology that a physically fit and environmentally educated population is necessary to maintain healthy people and a healthy world. Our immediate focus is to serve the Northport, WA area in its need for classes, seminars, workshops, and recreational opportunities that will be available to both youth and adults in all income brackets.

Gerhard Carlson
Gerhard Carlson was born in Anacortes, Washington, and has lived his whole life in Washington state. His early years were spent in the Bothell area of Western Washington. He was always active in sports and outdoor activities. He graduated from Inglemoor High School, and among his notable achievements at that time, he was the state gymnastics champion in his senior year on the high bar and rings. [More...]
Bryan Carlson
Bryan Carlson was born June 23, 1983 in Spokane, Washington. His family lived in Spokane until he was three, when they moved to Northport. He attended school in Northport all the way through high school, and graduated in the Northport High School Class of 2001, which was a class of around twenty students. He was active in outdoor physical activities all of these years with hiking, biking, and camping with the family. [More...]
Jim Goodwin
Jim Goodwin has been a SMOS board member since 2008. He is currently a Math and Science teacher at Northport High School. He is a coach in track and has also coached cross country and wrestling. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Biology in 1982, and his teaching certificate in 1986. [More...]
